Kababayan Committee
AKA Kaba
Kababayan, or Kaba for short, is the Tagalog word for 'fellow country people.' The committee seeks to empower students to take action on the various social, political, economic, and cultural issues affecting today's Filipinx community, here and in the homeland. Kaba is active through workshops, conferences, speaker series, and other initiatives, to learn how to better serve our kababayan. Some of the topics that Kaba addresses are immigration, education, workers' rights, human rights, and the Filipinx/Filipinx-American experience. The committee, along with the rest of PASU, allies itself with the National Alliance for Filipino Concerns (NAFCON), Kapit Bisig Kabataan Network, Anakbayan Silicon Valley and other organizations in the Bay Area.

Kaba Co-Chairs
Edwin Carlos
Hi y'all! My name is Edwin but you can call me Dwin (Or Edwino, Dwinerino, Arduino, etc.). I'm a sophomore majoring in Psychology and one of your Kababayan co-chairs this year! I joined PASU because I didn't have a strong Pilipinx community back home Washington, and I really appreciate the community that I've felt and experienced with folks in PASU, as well as the opportunity to explore more of my Pilipinx identity since joining PASU. I love boba and playing Super Smash Bros. Melee, so hit me up if you ever want one (or both!) of those things. I'm also a budding community organizer who's looking to do more and more with the greater Pilipinx and API community, so let me know if you're down to chat about that as well.

Emily Cang
Helloooo~ I'm Emily (she/her/hers), Kababayan co-chair, second year, majoring in Symbolic Systems with a minor in East Asian Studies (Japan). I was roped into PASU as a first year because my AASIB bigs were both core members. I stayed for the family and the friendship. Outside of PASU, I'm heavily involved in the Southeast Asian community (predominantly the Stanford Khmer Association and Stanford Vietnamese Student Union). Let's grab a meal or some boba and talk about life, dogs, why it's l i t and okay to join cultural groups even if you don't exactly identify as it, or why Polynesian sauce is superior to Chick-fil-a sauce.
